The title of today’s Article is…

HELP, CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?

Are there times when you feel all alone in the world?
Do you ever feel like you just can’t do it by yourself anymore?

Would you agree we’ve all had similar emotions of the sort at one time or another throughout life? I know I have. The good news is, […]
contrary to what you may be feeling, telling yourself, or circumstance you are experiencing, you needn’t go it alone.

Reactions may vary mentally and physically to a circumstance, depending on who you are. What your upbringing was like. How you’ve seen people closest to you react when you were a little child. It may also vary by what else is going on in your life at the time.

Why most people never ask for help

Some are taught to be tough and asking for help is only a sign of weakness and although there may be the odd time where this may apply, most instances are merely a reflection of a myth. However, one thing is for sure, you don’t have to go it alone. Much more can be accomplished with the help of another. You just need to ask.

There are ways we are wired as human beings that make us function even react in certain ways toward people or circumstances we face on a day to day basis.

Certain qualities or needs we all posses, we all have them, the subtle difference is, the order in which every individual prioritizes them, ultimately determining the outcome of daily decisions, actions and quality of life.

Two of which include, needing love and connection, (see Article on “The Top 10 Lessons For Lifestyle Success You Can Learn From A Child“) and the way giving makes us feel so much happier and fulfilled than receiving.

Within countless magical moments throughout the years, I have been truly blessed with the privilege to have crossed paths with and gain knowledge from some true giants.

As like attracts like and one good deed leads to another, ( see Article “Even Eagles Need A Push“) through a turn of events while on a Hawaii trip, I was introduced to someone who suggested someone special I ought to hear a story from. I later became very connected with that story teller, and who he stood for became an integral part of my life.

You can hear all about it in podcast episode #3 titled, “Even Eagles Need A Push”, or go to UltimateLifestyleSuccess.com/eagle

I promise you as I now relate one of his stories in this article only with the strongest hope it impacts your life as it did mine, there will be many to follow along with a well deserved introduction and the sweet angelic sound of his voice talking to you.

I would very much like to consider myself as a funnel rather than a sponge, where I can gather past experiences and lessons learnt and let it come out through a small yet focused and channeled spout with a clear message and applicable action.

We all need help! Nobody makes it alone,
and he often recalled the partially apocryphal but poignant tale of Albert and Albrecht Durer that his late friend and mentor shared with him many years ago.

Back in the fifteenth century, in a tiny village near Nuremberg, lived a family with eighteen children. Eighteen!

In order merely to keep food on the table for this big family, the father and head of the household, a goldsmith by profession, worked almost eighteen hours a day at his trade and any other kind of paying chore he could find in the neighborhood.

Despite their seemingly hopeless condition, two of Albrecht Durer the Elder’s children had a dream. They both wanted to pursue their talent for art, but they knew full well that their father would never be financially able to send either of them to Nuremberg to study at the Academy.

After many long discussions at night in their crowded bed, the two boys finally worked out a pact. They would toss a coin. The loser would go down into the nearby mines and, with his earnings, support his brother while he attended the academy. Then, when that brother who won the toss completed his studies, in four years, he would support the other brother at the academy, either with sales of his artwork or, if necessary, also by laboring in the mines.

They tossed a coin on a Sunday morning after prayer. Albrecht Durer won the toss and went off to Nuremberg.

Albert went down into the dangerous mines and, for the next four years, financed his brother, whose work at the academy was almost an immediate sensation. Albrecht’s etchings, his woodcuts, and his oils were far better than those of most of his professors, and by the time he graduated, he was beginning to earn considerable fees for his commissioned works.

When the young artist returned to his village, the Durer family held a festive dinner on their lawn to celebrate Albrecht’s triumphant homecoming. After a long and memorable meal, punctuated with much music and laughter, Albrecht rose from his honored position at the head of the table to drink a toast to his beloved brother for the years of sacrifice that had enabled Albrecht to fulfill his ambition. His closing words were, “And now, Albert, blessed brother of mine, now it is your turn. Now you can go to Nuremberg to pursue your dream, and I will take care of you.”

All heads turned in eager expectation to the far end of the table where Albert sat, tears streaming down his pale face, shaking his lowered head from side to side while he sobbed and repeated, over and over, “No …no …no …no.”

Finally, Albert rose and wiped the tears from his cheeks. He glanced down the long table at the faces he loved, and then, holding his hands close to his right cheek, he said softly, “No, brother. I cannot go to Nuremberg. It is too late for me. Look … look what four years in the mines have done to my hands! The bones in every finger have been smashed at least once, and lately I have been suffering from arthritis so badly in my right hand that I cannot even hold a glass to return your toast, much less make delicate lines on parchment or canvas with a pen or a brush. No, brother … for me it is too late.”

More than 450 years have passed. By now, Albrecht Durer’s hundreds of masterful portraits, pen and silver point sketches, water-colors, charcoals, woodcuts, and copper engravings hang in every great museum in the world, but the odds are great that you, like most people, are familiar with only one of Albrecht Durer’s works. More than merely being familiar with it, you very well may have a reproduction hanging in your home or office.

One day, to pay homage to Albert for all that he had sacrificed, Albrecht Durer painstakingly drew his brother’s abused hands with palms together and thin fingers stretched skyward. He called his powerful drawing simply “Hands,” but the entire world almost immediately opened their hearts to his great masterpiece and renamed his tribute of love “The Praying Hands.”

The next time you see a copy of that touching creation, take a second look. Let it be your reminder, if you still need one, that no one – no one – ever makes it alone!

Ask… and you shall receive

Of course, you don’t have to try to make it alone. Whether your faith is great or almost non existent, you still have your own set of praying hands. All you need do, whenever things get tough, is just touch your palms together, extend your fingers, raise your eyes, and say, “I need help.” I’ve done it at least a thousand times in my life. Results? You might be surprised when you discover how close help is if you just ask for it.

For now, it’s you and me. That other special help will always be there for you, believe me, but you’ve only got me for a little while . . . so let’s get on with this rewarding project of changing your life for the better.

There is not much more I can add or that needs to be added so, don’t ever be afraid or feel to proud to ask, and always, always, be on the lookout for someone that is…
and offer. Together, we can make a difference!
